#HoodieTheHomeless 2014 Needs Your Support

BNB header

In 2013 Bitcoin Not Bombs distributed 324 hoodies to the homeless in San Francisco, and did outreach in a downtrodden demographic that could really benefit from this technology, funded and purchased entirely with Bitcoin. As we gear up for our second annual Hoodie The Homeless campaign we’d like to surpass that record, however as anyone involved in Bitcoin knows, the price has been in a slump for much of 2014, and that has impacted both sales and donations. Those who remember the $1,000 spot price at the end of 2013 are understandably waiting patiently for the price the bounce, but winter doesn’t wait. At our current donations we’re looking at distributing barely half what we did last year.

There are a number of ways you can help us turn this around.

1) Pre-order a hoodie or t-shirt: Every Bitcoin Not Bombs hoodie and shirt is priced to cover the cost of one hoodie for someone in need this winter. The pre-orders will be printed after Cyber Monday, December 1st, 2014, and shipped in time for holiday gift giving.

2) Purchase any Bomber merchandise: Some of the proceeds from any item from our Bitcoin Bomber line will be contributed to this campaign. Pick up the Bitcoin Bomber lapel pin, patch or beanie.

3) Donate Bitcoin. All donations made to the Bitcoin Not Bombs Multi signature account during the course of this campaign will go toward this project. This is the most effective way to support this project directly. Bitcoin Donation Addresss – 3CHHe6DwYFmx5c8LLm1RQBcGiexCJJrMqT

With the recent arrest of two Food Not Bombs volunteers for flaunting a homeless feeding ban in Fort Lauderdale, or the homeless blanket ban in Pensacola, Florida last year, decentralized homeless outreach like this is more important than ever. This year Bitcoin Not Bombs is hoping to coordinate with existing homeless outreach organizations, such as Project Homeless Connect, and the Bay Area Rescue Mission, to help them get set up to use Bitcoin as a funding tool, and further decentralize the charity options in the Bitcoin ecosystem. But that cooperation hinges upon the success of our fundraising efforts. Please help us show the world that Bitcoin is a force for good, and make Hoodie the Homeless 2014 all that it can be.

We would also like to thank SnapCard.io for offering a free merchant processing account with zero fees and a free tablet to the homeless outreach centers of San Francisco. We also owe a huge thanks to CoinKite.com for helping us secure our bitcoin funds behind a multi signature wallet.
