Who Should Decide What You Eat?

The Consent Chronicle

This is the official email newsletter of the Zero Aggression Project and DownsizeDC.org, Inc

I wrote to my Representative and Senators telling them to sponsor and pass DownsizeDC.org’s Write the Laws Act. I hope you do the same.

The hardwired message says…

Introduce DownsizeDC.org’s “Write the Laws Act” (WTLA), which was sponsored in the last Congress by Senator Rand Paul (S. 3361).

You may borrow from or copy the following comments…

An example of why the WTLA is needed: the FDA wants to ban trans fats (http://nyti.ms/17GJpbV).

Let me ask…

* Why can’t I choose what I consume?
* Shouldn’t I be free to balance health risk, price, and taste on my own?
* With trans fats consumption trending down already, why should the FDA “fix” the problem through coercion and prohibition?

How is that moral?

And…

WHERE DOES THE FDA GET THE AUTHORITY?

The Constitution gives only Congress the power to pass federal laws. It CANNOT delegate this power to unelected bureaucrats.

To do so mocks the rule of law and representative government.

At least when Congress passes bad laws, you have to explain your votes to the people. FDA busybodies have no such accountability.

That’s probably why you delegate so much of your lawmaking. You don’t want to take responsibility.

But that’s not “government.” A system where unaccountable agents impose restrictions on individuals and business through force is ILLEGITIMATE.

The WTLA will help restore Constitutional legitimacy by ending bureaucratic lawmaking. Honor your oath of office and pass it.
