Due to recent bipartisan support of S 1867, the Defense Authorization Bill, local activist group Houston Free Thinkers have not only come out against it, but plan on taking action supporting their position.
This Thursday, December 15, at 9:30 am, members from the Free Thinkers will meet in front of the Mickey Leland Federal Building in Houston Texas to raise awareness and then meet with Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison about this legislation. They will then meet again in front of John Cornyn’s office at 1:30pm to do the same.
This proposed bill would allow the use of the military inside the United States against its own citizens and residents. It also provides for indefinite military detention of United States citizens based on mere suspicion of acts of aggression against the U.S. It is sponsored by Senators Carl Levin and John McCain, was added in the senate after a closed door hearing, has received bi partisan support, and has received limited debate.
In concordance with this bill, reports have surfaced earlier this month of Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg, Brown & Root (KBR) seeking subcontractors to provide “temporary camp services” and facilities for part of its immediate and prospective emergency services contracts for FEMA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and state and local governments. This report also breaks up the United States into 5 distinct regions where the different camps will be located. It states: “The personnel on site to be covered by these services will depend on the size and scope of the recovery effort, but for estimating purposes the camp will range in size from 301 to 2,000 persons for up to 30 days in length.”
Combine all of the above news with the recent financial crises in Europe, the impending decline of the U.S. dollar and our outstanding debt, and the constant printing of fiat currency from the Federal Reserve (all done at interest, of course) we in the United States could very well be confronted by an economic collapse of epic proportions. If this is to ensue, we may face extremely chaotic conditions that the majority of people in America are not prepared for. Hence, the possible reasons for Congress’s proposed reforms to the National Defense Authorization Act and KBR’s proposal regarding FEMA camps. In any event, this bill and the FEMA camps infringe in every possible fashion on our liberties, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. This draconian legislation could enslave the people of this country en masse.
Will this bill pass? The Houston Free Thinkers certainly hope not… but time is short and raising awareness about this bill and special action must be taken ASAP. Here in Houston, the Free Thinkers have a peaceful plan of action set up for Thursday, including various forms of street action and following that, administering letters of disapproval regarding the bill to our Texas Senators. The following statement is an excerpt regarding their event on Facebook:
Bill of Rights Day Rally Against the National Defense Authorization Act
It’s time for all people to come together to repel the latest, greatest threat to Liberty, the INDEFINITE MILITARY DETENTION provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act. The bill grants the military the power to hold anyone merely accused of being a terrorist or aiding terrorists in indefinite military detention without Due Process or the right of Habeas Corpus.
We need to puncture the media blackout of NDAA, wake the people up to the real and present danger it represents and initiate a stream of action both locally and nationally to stop it.
*****In Texas both Senators voted for the NDAA. This first action against the NDAA will focus on them.****
9:30 – Gather at Tranquility Park with cameras, letters, signs and flyers about the NDAAA.
10 – March to the Mickey Leland Federal Building
10- 10:05 – Street Theater Action regarding the consequences of the NDAA
10:05- March into Building to hand Kay Bailey Hutchinson letters of disapproval
10:20 Street Action and Info Jam
We will also be holding a second event at 1:30 p.m. at John Cornyns office!!!!
