Obama may be the most articulate of the liars we have seen in the White House. His campaign rhetoric brought hope to millions of oblivious people this last year. I wonder if they are still feeling the state of euphoria that once consumed their lives. One of Obama’s biggest false fronts was transparency in the White House. His administration claimed: “President Obama has committed to making his administration the most open and transparent in history, and WhiteHouse.gov will play a major role in delivering on that promise.”
He also guaranteed a 5 day pledge or“sunlight before signing” as he detailed on the campaign trail suggesting that: “Too often bills are rushed through Congress and to the president before the public has the opportunity to review them”.
Any hopes I had for transparency were completely diminished after 300 pages were slipped into the Cap and Trade Bill the night before it went to a House vote. Of course this wasn’t the first bill since Obama took office that was slipped under the radar. These same types of tactics were also used when he signed into law the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) among others.
Another accountability issue recently exposed is that of Obama’s “prepackaged questions” during his town hall meetings. In the past, town hall meetings have always been opened to the public. That is not the case anymore. Town hall meetings are now open to the press ONLY which serves no purpose for the public concerns. Even the most liberal of journalists, Helen Thomas, hammers Robert Gibbs accusing the current administration of controlling the media by calling reporters the night before to announce they would be called on the next day in addition to staging questions that reporters were to ask. Thomas exclaimed to Gibbs, this was “Shocking”. It is now apparent that the Obama administration is indoctrinating the people by regulating and suppressing what questions the press are allowed to ask the administration while being viewed by the public eye.
This is a direct violation of our constitutional rights. The last time I glanced at the Constitution of the United State the First Amendment read: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”.
It seems to me that not only has the right to free speech and freedom of press been violated here, but also the right to peaceably assemble in a town hall meeting that has always been open to the public with all past administrations. What are they trying to hide?
This is truly a torment of our rights and Barak Obama of all people should understand this better than most, since he taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School for over 12 years. How can Obama claim to be a constitutional scholar yet blatantly disregard the American peoples Constitutional rights? These are only a fraction of the injustices regarding transparency and accountability that the Obama administration has made. Some people will call it broken promises when it is really nothing more than premeditated deceit. What the Obama administration is portraying to the American people is we are no longer a free country. America is now a total dictatorship and the proof is in the press which is beyond doubt an “obamanation” of America.
