The Anonymous group Ghost Sec, whose stated goal is to “eliminate the online presence of Islamic extremist groups such as Islamic State (IS), Al-Qaeda, Al-Nusra, Boko Haram and Al-Shabaab,” has taken down a large online ISIS site and replaced it with a message telling readers to “Enhance your calm.”

“Enhance your calm. Too many people are into this ISIS-stuff. Please gaze upon this lovely ad so we can upgrade our infrastructure to give you ISIS content you all so …read more

Entrepreneur Employs Ex-Cons to Turn City Destruction into Massive 60-acre Urban Farm

Detroit, MI — Earlier this month we reported that one entrepreneur in Chicago is turning ex-cons into beekeepers, drastically reducing recidivism while helping our pollinator friends.
Another pioneering organization in Detroit sees opportunity in the blight that has taken over large parts of this former industrial hub. The vacant land, with its dilapidated buildings, is now owned by a quasi-governmental agency called the Detroit Land Bank Authority. They are practically begging people to use the land.
RecoveryPark is a non-profit organization established in 2010 with a mission to “create jobs for people with barriers to employment.” They are tapping into a surging …read more

North Carolina Federal Panel Asked to Invalidate Legislative District Boundaries

On November 23, a 3-judge U.S. District Court heard arguments in Covington v State of North Carolina, m.d., 1:15cv-399. The plaintiffs are African-American voters who charge that the 2011 legislative redistricting packed too many of them in a small number of legislative districts, thus reducing their voting influence in many other adjoining legislative districts.
The case was filed May 19, 2015. The hearing was on the request for a preliminary injunction against using the districts in the 2016 election. The three judges are Thomas D. Schroeder (a Bush Jr. appointee), James A. Wynn Jr. (an Obama appointee), and …read more

Heroic Cops Protect Community by Raiding a Group of 90-yo Women Playing MahJong

Altamonte Springs, FL — A concerned citizen, with a knack for blindly following all decrees handed down from the establishment on high, conducted their patriotic duty of ‘seeing something’ and then ‘saying something’ last week. The resultant tattle-telling ended with police action against four little old ladies.
Lee Delnick, Bernice Diamond, Helen Greenspan and Zelda King, all elderly women above the age of 87, had their weekly game of MahJong shut down by police who were apparently uninterested in solving actual crimes.
According to CBS Tampa, King says word spread about their weekly gathering and that a “troublemaker” in the community called …read more

Sheriff Puts Up Official Sign “WARNING” People Who Disagree with Him to “LEAVE!”

Harris County, GA — An apparently confused Georgia sheriff attempted to make a declaration of his intolerance, setting off a storm of controversy.
Sheriff Mike Jolley of Harris County decided that it would be a good idea to put up a sign in his town ‘warning’ people who disagree with his views to ‘leave.’
Underneath the “Welcome to Harris County Georgia” sign, Sheriff Jolley added another sign that reads:

“WARNING: Harris County is politically incorrect. We say: Merry Christmas, God Bless America, and in God We Trust. We salute our troops and our flag. If this offends you… LEAVE!”

Of course there is …read more

Change Your Amazon Password…Now!

I’m reticent to really even talk about this now as there are very few details as to what exactly happened, but Amazon is sending out warning emails to select customers that recommends those customers change their Amazon password immediately, as there has been a breach of security which has allowed certain bad actors to collect passwords for Amazon accounts from Amazon.
How this was achieved is presently unknown. My guess is that it was at least in part an “inside job” (I hate using that phrase) that allowed for this to happen. Not that Amazon servers are a hard target to …read more

Should we strike “home of the brave” from the national anthem?

Syrian refugees: Are we still the home of the brave? Retweet

Earlier this week, we argued that….
U.S. politicians (and voters) created the Syrian refugee crisis
Those who caused the crisis have a moral obligation to give sanctuary to the people they victimized — “You broke it, you bought it.”
No tax funding should be used for this purpose. Instead…
Congress should throw open the doors to voluntary contributions, allowing American citizens and charities to sponsor Syrian individuals and families.
We call this policy “Sanctuary yes, tax-funding no.” Today we’ll address two questions related to this policy. First…

Will taking in Syrian refugees increase the risk of …read more

California Election Law, Telling Republican Party How to Choose Presidential Electors, Creates Knotty Problems

California, despite losing the lawsuit San Francisco County Democratic Central Committee v Eu in the U.S. Supreme Court in 1989, still regulates political parties to an unusual degree. California Election Code section 7300 tells the Republican Party that “the Republican nominees for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Treasurer, Controller, Attorney General, and Secretary of State…shall act as presidential electors.”
This law has several problems. First, because voters passed Proposition 14 in 2010, parties in California no longer have nominees (except for President, Vice-President and presidential elector). Second, even if the law is interpreted to mean mere members of the Republican …read more

Outgoing Kentucky Governor Vastly Eases Ability to Register to Vote for Most Ex-Felons

On November 24, outgoing Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear issued an executive order, making it much easier for most ex-felons to register to vote. The order is expected to ease the path for 170,000 individuals. Beshear is a Democrat and he only has two more weeks in office. However, incoming Governor Matt Bevin, a Republican, said during the campaign that he favors this idea. See this story. …read more
