Man Beaten and Arrested by Police for Trying to Save His 3 Dogs from His Burning Home

Cocoa, FL — At 5 am on Wednesday morning, 58-year-old Wendell Joyner awoke to his house ablaze. However, after he ran from his home, he quickly realized that his three dogs were still inside.
“I got out of the house, and then I realized, ‘Oh, wait a minute, my dogs are in there,” Joyner told WKMG-TV. “So, I went back inside to look for my dogs.”
The smoke was so bad that Joyner had to keep returning outside to catch his breath while searching for his dogs. However, on the third time he came out for air, law enforcement on the scene …read more

Brutal Report Exposes the Most Dangerous to Threat Child Sex Workers — Cops

In the Land of the Free, it is against the law to get paid to have sex, unless that sex is filmed, distributed on DVD, and taxed. One of the least talked about systems of oppression in the US is that of persecuting prostitutes.
When referencing prostitution, we are talking about the mutually beneficial exchange of sexual favors for money by two or more consenting partners; not forced human trafficking.
It’s called the “oldest profession in the world” for a reason. Sex is a fundamental human need. One need only observe the explosive population growth of humans in the last 10,000 years …read more

The Race to the Bottom: The BLU Vivo 5 and Vivo XL Starting at $149

Recently at the Dark Android Project we talked about the Xiaomi Redmi 3 Android smartphone with an all-metal body and an impressive octa-core processor…that only cost $100. It’s incredible to consider that such well-built and well-specced phones can be had for so little money, but the Xiaomi Redmi 3 did come with one little flaw if you live in the United States: It’s not being released here and it can be a challenge to buy it internationally, perhaps to the point where it costs a lot more than $100 USD.
Another little known company in the US–BLU Products–may have just saved …read more

California Republican Party Asks Secretary of State to List Eleven Candidates

The California Republican Party has asked the Secretary of State to list eleven presidential candidates on its primary ballot: Bush, Carson, Christie, Cruz, Fiorina, Huckabee, Kasich, Paul, Rubio, Santorum, and Trump. Some Republican officials argued that Rand Paul should be omitted, on the grounds that he didn’t participate in either debate on January 14. However, the majority of Republican decision-makers did support including Paul. Thanks to Mark Seidenberg for this news. …read more

Native American Women Disappearing at an Alarming Rate and Police are Completely Ignoring It

In April of 2015, a Native American woman, Edith Chavez, 38, of Tower, Minnesota was kidnapped, drugged and held for days while on a trip to Casselton, North Dakota. According to Chavez, a man snuck up behind her and knocked her unconscious.
“He picked me up right off the ground,” said Edith, “He was very strong, and I couldn’t get away. There was a white flash and then I don’t remember.”
A few days later, lost in a fog from being drugged by her abductor, Edith awoke to the sound of a dinging tone from an open car door. She found herself …read more

Former California Republican State Chair Says “Of Course” the Party Must Winnow the Field for U.S. Senate Before the Primary

Duf Sundheim, a former California Republican state chair, and a supporter of California’s top-two system, is quoted here as saying that “of course” the Republican Party will need to persuade some of the Republican candidates for U.S. Senate not to file for the June 2016 primary. Scroll down to “Border to border” to see that news.
Three Republicans have announced for U.S. Senate this year. They are Sundheim himself, who lives in Santa Clara County; Tom Del Beccaro, another former state chair of the party who lives in Contra Costa County; and Assemblymember Rocky Chavez of San Diego County.

The Casio Smart Outdoor Watch Has a Neat Trick

Writing about smartwatches–Android Wear or otherwise–is not a new thing for the Dark Android Project. Some of these are interesting, but most of the wearables that get bantered on about are worthless wrist-mounted blocks of sensors that infringe upon your privacy (and I’m guessing they’ll be a security problem at some point in 2016).
Some of the more interesting smartwatches include the ill-fated LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, any watch from Pebble, and even some of Samsung’s Gear line that had their own SIM cards. Keep in mind, as I’ve said on my podcast Sovryn Tech many times, I’m not …read more

After Video Shows Raging Cop Run Over and Kick a Compliant Biker, He’s Promoted to Captain

Eugene, OR — Last week, a Eugene man was awarded $180,000 by a jury after being run over and attacked by an Oregon State Police officer.
The dashcam video from the attack was also released along with the ruling. In the video, Capt. Rob Edwards, with the OSP, is seen chasing down Justin Wilkens, running his bike over, and then kicking the man so hard that he broke his collarbone.
As the dashcam video begins, Edwards, who is driving an unmarked Chevrolet Camaro, is passed by Wilkens. Wilkens was seen passing cars in a no-passing zone, which was a poor decision. However, …read more

How you can stop warrantless tracking of your every movement

Do you give up your Fourth Amendment rights when you carry a cell phone? Retweet

Can the government track your every movement, even within your home, using cell phone tracking? …especially without a warrant?

These are among the questions at stake in the case U.S. v. Graham (Fourth District, Court of Appeals).

The Graham case gives us an excellent chance to extend the victory we achieved in U.S. v. (Antoine) Jones. We, at the Downsize DC Foundation, need your help to file an amicus brief in this case.
