Mother Dies In Jail After Officers Ignore Her Cries for Help, No One told the Family She Died

Miami Lakes, FL — The family of 23-year old Nairobis Alvarez Cruz faced their worst nightmare this Thursday when they arrived at a South Florida courthouse to find out 23-year old Cruz had died while being held in jail.
Although the jail is required to immediately notify the family of the death of anyone in their custody, that did not happen. Upon arriving at the courthouse, Cruz’s parents received a call from an inmate informing them that their daughter died Wednesday.

Philadelphia, PA — A public defender was hospitalized, and a client represented by her firm left with more charges after a takedown just outside Criminal Justice Center courtroom.
Anthony C. Jones, 22 is now facing several more charges after the incident that took place earlier this month. Paula Sen, a public defender working for the firm representing Jones, was punched in the face during the struggle.

In November 2014, the voters of Nevada finally created a State Court of Appeals. Nevada had been one of only ten states with no state court of appeals. The idea had been rejected by the voters five times before 2014.
