Marco Rubio’s #RubioCrimeSpree Is About Much More than Speeding

Sometimes even the most amusing, silly stories can have an underlying profundity hidden in them. This applies to the current buzz over the fact that Senator Marco Rubio, who now has aspirations to be the Emperor – excuse me, “President” – of the United States, along with his wife, has managed to pile up over a thousand dollars’ worth of traffic citations for things such as speeding, running a stop sign, running a red light, and other careless driving.
Admittedly, the senator’s mere four citations are over-shadowed by his wife’s thirteen, but apparently vehicular negligent endangerment is a joint effort by …read more

In a State Where Marijuana is Legal, a Family is Facing Prison for Growing it as Their Medicine

On June 10, three residents of Washington were going to face sentencing in federal court for the crime of growing plants to treat their own medical conditions. The Kettle Falls Five trial, taking place in a state where medicinal and recreational marijuana use is legal, is illustrating the absurdity of U.S. marijuana law.
The sentencing has since been pushed back to October 2, 2015.
The case is likely to alter the course of federal marijuana prosecution, in a time when decriminalization is sweeping the nation.
It began in August 2012 when the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) raided the property of the Harvey family, …read more

Will the Feds kill again?

I’ve once more asked Congress to let Americans opt of FDA control. In other words…

The FDA should confine itself to sharing the results of its research
It should STOP controlling what people ingest

The reason this change is needed will become clear when you read my letter to Congress below. I hope you’ll decide to copy or edit that letter to send your own message to Congress. You can do that using our FDA campaign.

The hard-wired portion of the letter to Congress reads…

Make the FDA advisory, not dictatorial.
You can copy or edit the following sample letter for …read more

Man Awarded $35K After Cops Mistook Crackers for Crack Rocks

Deptford, New Jersey — Wenonah resident John Cokos recently settled a lawsuit against the Gloucester County police department for $35,000. The lawsuit comes after an arrest for drug possession because the officer claimed that his crackers were crack rocks.
According to NJ.com, the incident occurred in November of 2011 when Cokos was stopped by police because they saw him walking down the street with a video camera. When the police approached him, he began to record them with the camera, which allegedly made them angry.
The police told Cokos that there were burglaries in the area and that walking down the street …read more

After What he Just Said, John Cusack Won’t be Invited to the White House Any Time Soon

In the wake of a recent Vince Vaughn interview with British edition of GQ magazine, in which Vaughn took a strong stand for liberty, film star John Cusack doubled down against tyranny.
Veteran film star John Cusack, in a wide-ranging interview with The Daily Beast, took direct aim the current state of affairs in America and made it known that Hollywood political correctness holds no value to him.
“No, I don’t care about any of that shit. All those people are just full of hot air and networking and stuff. If you’re speaking out about basic Rubicon lines that should or shouldn’t …read more

North Carolina Legislature Passes Bill Eliminating Most Elections for Supreme Court Justice

On June 5, the North Carolina legislature passed HB 222, which (assuming it is signed by the Governor) will end most elections for Supreme Court Justice. The bill says that if a member of the State Supreme Court who has already been elected at least once desires to continue to serve another term, he can inform state officials in the year preceding the expiration of his or her term that he wants a retention election. Then, instead of facing an opponent, he or she would simply be listed on the ballot, with the voters permitted to vote “yes” …read more

Political Science Essay Says True Independents Are Only 10% of Electorate

Political scientist professor Alan I. Abramowitz and PhD student Steven Webster have published this essay about partisanship in the United States. The main point is to show that over half of Americans have strong hostility and dislike toward one major party. The dislike of one major party among these voters is stronger than their liking for the other major party. Increasingly, the United States is divided into two camps of voters who not only dislike one of the major parties, but dislikes their members as well.
The essay also asserts that only 10% of the electorate is truly …read more
