Draconian “Revenge Porn” Law Stopped that Would’ve Outlawed Photos of Breastfeeding Mothers

The nanny state has encountered a setback in Arizona. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Media Coalition have managed to stop a particularly bad “revenge porn” law from taking effect in that state.
After lawmakers failed to fix the law’s overly broad language, US District Judge Susan Bolton issued a final decree that the state’s attorneys cannot enforce the law in its current form.
Arizona Attoney Genera Mark Brnovich did not fight the ACLU lawsuit and agreed that lawmakers included “ambiguities that raise legitimate constitutional concerns.” They’re even going to pay the plaintiff’s legal costs.
The ACLU lawsuit, filed in September …read more

ASUS ZenPad S 8.0: An Inexpensive Dark Android Contender

At the main Dark Android Project website, I recommend using tablets as your Dark Android device (because anything with a SIM card is near-impossible to make “really secure”), and I have listed off a couple of different models of tablet to use for this purpose. The first–and generally best–is Google’s/ASUS’ Nexus 7 32GB WiFi (2013). I also recommend Sony’s various models, but that’s the short list.
Well, I’m happy to say that I have another recommendation to make (more options are a good thing) in the tablet space, and this one has some serious potential that other tablets I’ve recommended don’t …read more

Montana Republican Party Moves Ahead with Lawsuit Against Open Primary for Public Office Nominations

The Montana Republican Party’s lawsuit against Montana’s open primary is active. The case was filed on September 8, 2014, and argued that the Republican Party cannot be forced to let members of other parties help choose its nominees for public office or party office.
The case had been diverted for a while because the party had decided the strongest part of its case concerned the law that forced the party to choose party officers in an open primary. However on May 5, 2015, a new law was enacted that says parties no longer need to use the primary to …read more

By the Numbers: US Police Kill More in Days than Other Countries do in Decades

Starting on Thursday, US Police killed 3 people, Friday that number doubled at 6 people killed, and at least 3 more were confirmed over Saturday and into Sunday morning.
That makes 12 lives ended prematurely by America’s ‘protectors’ in just a few days.
By contrast, China, whose population is 4 and 1/2 times the size of the United States, recorded 12 killings by law enforcement officers in 2014.
More people were killed by American police in just the last three days than were killed in 2014 in Germany, England, Spain, Switzerland, and Iceland — combined.
Anyone see a problem with this?
Police killings have gotten …read more

Ohio Republican Party Paid $592,000 in Legal Fees to Keep Ohio Libertarian Gubernatorial Nominee off Primary Ballot in 2014

The Ohio Libertarian Party’s lawsuit over whether its gubernatorial nominee should have been on the 2014 Libertarian primary ballot is still proceeding, and discovery is still underway. It had already been revealed that the Republican Party of Ohio had paid $300,000 to the attorneys for the individual who challenged the Libertarian gubernatorial primary petition. New information has recently emerged that the party actually paid $592,000.
The new figure would not have emerged, if the Republican consultant for the Republican gubernatorial campaign had not brought forth the new information in his own defense. He and the Kasich gubernatorial campaign …read more

Outperforming All Expectations, World’s First Solar Road Lights a Path Into the Future

Netherlands – An ambitious solar road project in the Netherlands, where the world’s first solar road has been built, is outperforming the expectations of project engineers.
The energy harvesting bike path, paved with specialized glass-coated solar panels, has performed even better than expected over the first six months of the trial, with the 70-meter, or 290ft, bike path generating 3,000kWh of energy; the amount needed to power an average home for a year.

This is Why You Film Police: Cellphone Video Exposes Raging Cop Bashing Faces for No Reason

In a video uploaded to Facebook last year, Chicago Police officers were seen violently tossing a woman around, attacking a man, and inciting general chaos- in typical police fashion.
The video begins with officers standing around with their chests puffed out, while a witness brilliantly reminds everyone not to talk, just to film.
Next thing we know a woman is having her face slammed into the hood of a cop car. That woman is Lisa Simmons, she was one of many community residents participating in a block party celebrating two of its artists signing a big recording contract.
Moments later, after announcing …read more
