Virginia and North Carolina Republican Parties Ponder Loyalty Oath for Candidates in Presidential Primary

Both the North Carolina Republican Party and the Virginia Republican Party are considering adopting state rules that require presidential primary candidates to take a loyalty oath to support the party’s eventual 2016 presidential nominee. See this story. It is likely that courts would uphold the ability of parties to enforce such a requirement.
The Texas Democratic Party had a similar oath for presidential primary candidates in 2008, and Dennis Kucinich refused to sign it. He sued to get on the Texas Democratic presidential primary ballot, but the U.S. District Court and the 5th circuit upheld the authority of …read more

Sheriff’s Department Promises to Turn ‘Burning Man’ Festival into a Police State

Pershing County, NV — There is a new sheriff in town in the Burning Man jurisdiction, and he promises more arrests than ever at the world-famous music and arts festival next week.
Pershing County Sheriff Jerry Allen admitted that there would be more nonviolent “crime” at the festival than the police will be able to deal with, but they are determined to write as many tickets and make as many arrests as they possibly can.
“We don’t have the personnel to issue citations to 70,000 naked people on the playa, but we will be upholding the law to the best of our …read more

Video Shows How Police are Reduced to Harassing Innocent People for “Air Fresheners”

Providence RI — In what can only be considered an absolutely mockery of “justice,” a young man was recently pulled over by an overzealous law enforcement officer for the horrific crime of having an air freshener in his car. Yes, you read that correctly and this is not the onion.
In a video uploaded to YouTube yesterday, a young man can be seen in what appears to be a standard traffic stop. When the officer approaches his vehicle, he immediately demands the man’s license and registration. The man complies with the officer’s demands, but is very adamant in asserting his right …read more

Can you guess which group rules you the most?

Who makes the most rules? Congress or the bureaucracy #WritetheLaws Retweet

Quote of the Day: “The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.” – James Madison, Federalist Paper 47

I just told Congress to introduce and pass Downsize DC’s “Write the Laws Act.” I hope you’ll join me and send a letter to your “representatives.” The hardwired portion of the letter reads…
I want my Representative to introduce and my Senators to co-sponsor the “Write the …read more

Cop Facing 7 Years in Prison for Leaking Video of Fellow Cops Brutally Beating a Young Man

Queensland, AU (RT) — Gold Coast police officer Sergeant Rick Flori may spend up to seven years behind bars for leaking CCTV footage showing his fellow officers brutalizing a young chef, Noa Begic, while he was handcuffed in the Surfers Paradise Police Station basement.

Flori, who leaked the footage of the dramatic incident to the Brisbane Courier-Mail, was formally charged with misconduct in public office after being summoned to police headquarters in Brisbane last week, the newspaper reported. The footage taken in 2012 shows police officers slamming Begic’s face into the concrete floor before the 21-year-old is shoved into the back …read more

Timothy Leary Explains the Police State, “Every State in the World, America included, is a Mafia”

Timothy Leary is considered by many to be one of the most prominent figures of the 60’s counter culture, and whose legacy has had a lasting impact on modern pop culture, literature, television, film and, especially, music.
Leary is perhaps best known for his advocacy of psychedelic drugs as a means of personal growth and increased cognitive awareness, advocating for people to “turn on, tune in, and drop out.”
After being introduced to psilocybin mushrooms on a trip to Mexico in 1960, an experience that drastically altered the course of his life, Leary embarked on a mission to expand human consciousness, through …read more

The Latest Hardware Recommendations for Dark Android

In even the very near future, I think it’s going to get harder and harder to find Android devices that fit in well enough with the design principles that the Dark Android Project appreciates. The ability to root the device. The availability of custom ROM’s or at least AOSP to be installed on the device. Large storage space to be able to use larger apps like offline maps. Powerful processors and lots of RAM to be able to multitask and just overall get things done quickly.
A couple of pieces of hardware that I’ve recommended as late on the Dark Android …read more

Over Half of Virginia Legislative Races in November 2015 Have Only One Candidate on Ballot

Virginia elects state legislators in November of odd years. This year over half of the races have only one candidate on the ballot. For the 100 House races, only one person is on the ballot in 63 districts. For the State Senate, only one person is on the ballot in 15 of the 40 races. Thanks to Sandy Sanders for this information. Sanders is working to find a sponsor for a bill in next year’s session to ease the definition of “political party.” Current law says it is a group that polled 10% for …read more
