Both the North Carolina Republican Party and the Virginia Republican Party are considering adopting state rules that require presidential primary candidates to take a loyalty oath to support the party’s eventual 2016 presidential nominee. See this story. It is likely that courts would uphold the ability of parties to enforce such a requirement.

Pershing County, NV — There is a new sheriff in town in the Burning Man jurisdiction, and he promises more arrests than ever at the world-famous music and arts festival next week.

Providence RI — In what can only be considered an absolutely mockery of “justice,” a young man was recently pulled over by an overzealous law enforcement officer for the horrific crime of having an air freshener in his car. Yes, you read that correctly and this is not the onion.

Queensland, AU (RT) — Gold Coast police officer Sergeant Rick Flori may spend up to seven years behind bars for leaking CCTV footage showing his fellow officers brutalizing a young chef, Noa Begic, while he was handcuffed in the Surfers Paradise Police Station basement.

Flori, who leaked the footage of the dramatic incident to the Brisbane Courier-Mail, was formally charged with misconduct in public office after being summoned to police headquarters in Brisbane last week, the newspaper reported. In even the very near future, I think it’s going to get harder and harder to find Android devices that fit in well enough with the design principles that the Dark Android Project appreciates. The ability to root the device. The availability of custom ROM’s or at least AOSP to be installed on the device. Large storage space to be able to use larger apps like offline maps. Virginia elects state legislators in November of odd years. This year over half of the races have only one candidate on the ballot. For the 100 House races, only one person is on the ballot in 63 districts. For the State Senate, only one person is on the ballot in 15 of the 40 races. Thanks to Sandy Sanders for this information.
