Super Slow Motion Camera Shows the Gruesome Reality of Cops’ ‘Less than Lethal’ Tasers

(RT) — Being shocked by a plug socket feels bad enough. Ever wondered what’s it like to be shot with a police Taser stun gun? The moment a man is tasered has been caught on camera in super slow motion by YouTube wizards The Slow Mo Guys.

Equipped with a high-speed camera, the team traveled to Taser International headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona, to have their subject stunned with a Taser X26, the company’s most popular model, at 28,500 frames per second.

The first thing you get to see is a mixture of pink and yellow confetti that explodes from the Taser when …read more

Colorado Springs School Board Candidate Wins Ballot Access Via a Lawsuit that She Didn’t File

On September 10, a Colorado state court put Karla Heard-Price on the ballot for Colorado Springs school board. She had initially been kept off because two forms were submitted late. The candidate did nothing to fight the administrative ruling. But some voters who wanted to vote for her then filed a lawsuit to get her on the ballot, and the case won, so she is now on the ballot. See this story.
Previously, the Eighth Circuit and the Ninth Circuit had ruled that voters have standing to challenge ballot access laws, even if no candidate-plaintiff is in …read more

Infuriating Video Exposes How a Veteran in a Wheelchair is Treated for Filming in a Police State

Tampa, FL – On the afternoon of August 26, while filming MacDill Air Force Base from a public park, a U.S. veteran was illegally detained and bullied by police for legally recording the installation.
The filming of government buildings has been ruled to be protected under the First Amendment but is often cited as a reason for being detained by police who are either unaware or willfully ignorant of this right.
Flexing his rights immediately upon contact, the gentleman, who is in a wheelchair, can be heard asking police if he is “free to go or being detained,” to which Officer Yoeman …read more

Missing from the surveillance tape, released on Friday, is any indication that Officer Frascatore, 38, followed procedures or read James Blake his Miranda rights before arresting him.

Rick Perry Drops Out of Republican Presidential Candidate, Leaving Just 4 Candidates in September 16 Secondary Debate

On September 11, Rick Perry dropped out of the Republican presidential race. He had been one of the five debaters set for the CNN September 16 debate at 6 p.m. That should mean there are now only four candidates in that debate: Rick Santorum, Bobby Jindal, George Pataki, and Lindsey Graham.
There are eleven candidates in the debate set for the same day at 8 p.m. The irony is that the candidates in the 6 p.m. debate will have more speaking time than the “more important” candidates in the 8 p.m. debate. Those times are Pacific …read more

The FSF: 30 Years of Building the Future

When one looks at how much proprietary hardware and software is out there today (think Apple, Microsoft, and Alphabet/Google services and products), it may be hard to believe that the movement to try and open up at least the software-end of this problem has been around for 30 years now. And it is a problem. If you can’t look at the code of the software you are using, you can’t be sure it’s doing what “they” say it does, nor can you genuinely have control of that software.
Fortunately, our “closed garden” present isn’t without its heroic opponents: Enter the Free …read more
