Just came back from the Wall Street Protests. I’m actually disappointed, after reading/hearing/seeing all the hype about it on the internet. I would rate it a dismal 3 out of 10 in terms of anger/outrage. The Tea Party protests PRIOR to Labor Day 2009 were much more significant in terms of sheer enthusiasm and number of attendees. This Wall Street Protest was just several hundred to 1500 people literally crammed into a small. private park opposite Ground Zero. Surrounded by Police Stormtroopers, I might add. Young crowd, predominantly white (like the Tea Party protests) with a Left/Populist slant to it. Not a single picture of Obama, as apparently they don’t want to be seen protesting against a Black man. In other words, very politically correct. Lots of wannabe 1969-style Hippies. Reminded me of the crowd that used to follow the Grateful Dead around. I’m assuming the Wisconsin protests had similar crowd. This Wall Street protest was an odd for many reasons, but did have elements represented from throughout the political spectrum. It was apparently organized by the Lefty magazine, Adbusters. A small and disappointing, but surprising burst of protest.
