* It lacks empathy (http://bit.ly/1tbeCwo) for the Cubans impoverished and injured by their State and for those who want to trade with or aid the Cubans
When we take ANY foreign policy position, we hear from people who are “shocked” — some are even subscribers. Perhaps, as you read our position on Cuban relations, you’re one of them. Typically, these critiques start with, “I usually like your libertarian position, but on {fill-in-the-blank} I think you’re off your rocker.” The thing is…
We’re CONSISTENT.
We dependably apply the same principles to foreign policy proposals we apply to domestic political plans. If interventionism at home is bad, it’s even worse in distant lands (about which our politicians have even less knowledge). And, by the way, with equal predictability, we end up being right, when hindsight eventually arrives.
The point is…
We are an organization that takes stands, based on principles. People claim that’s what they want — leaders who stand by principle. Yet some unsubscribe when they read a Chronicle with which they disagree. If you agree with us, normally and in general, then when the specific disagreements arise, the consistent thing for
you to do is, applaud us for taking an unpopular stand based on principle.
And the best way to help an organization that stands on principle is to provide financial support. There are a number of means by which you can do that found at our secure contribution form. https://downsizedc.org/contribute/
