WE R HERE Statement on Cyber Monday
Washington, DC – WE R HERE Executive Director and tax fairness advocate Phil Bond today issued the following statement recognizing Cyber Monday:
“Today, millions of Americans are turning to Internet retailers – including WE R HERE members – to do their holiday shopping. Consumers are buying from WE R HERE members and small web-enabled retailers because they know that they can find unique or specialty goods at reasonable prices, while also getting the satisfaction of supporting small businesses located in their community.
“At a time when the nation’s economy is still sluggish, Congress shouldn’t seek to punish this dynamic sector of our economy. Unfortunately, some members of Congress are seeking to do exactly that, pushing the deeply flawed and misguided Marketplace Fairness Act that punishes small web-enabled retailers to the benefit of big box retailers. WE R HERE hopes that as members of Congress do their own holiday shopping, they go online – and recognize the many ways in which our members benefit their states and districts.”
