A Lightning War for Liberty
The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; the second is war. Both bring a temporary prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunists. – Ernest Hemingway
The fog of war is a fantastic cover for all kind of crime, most especially the economic kind. Sizable wars naturally inhibit markets and cause erratic flux in capital flows. …War is an ill wind that blows no good. It is a purely destructive force that can only create a net loss for the world as a whole. I don’t see any good at all that could come from US meddling in Syria or other such countries. It’s not just asking for trouble – it’s begging for a catastrophe.”
